The Leiden United Board of 2020-2021
Meet The Team
Irina Gurewitsch President The President overlooks the functioning of the board and acts as the spokesperson of Leiden United to external parties. I was born in Belarus, but when I was 6, my family moved to Germany. This showed me at an early age how diverse different cultures can be and made me excited to explore the world. This time I ended up in the prettiest city in the Netherlands, in Leiden. Coming from Germany, against all odds I am not studying Psychology, but doing my master’s in Mathematics and Business Studies. And when I am not studying, I love cooking, dancing and being active for Leiden United. |
Eric Li Treasurer The Treasurer manages all monetary transactions and other finances. I grew up in Beijing but moved to New York for my undergrad before finally making my way to the Netherlands. Having studied History and Classics in college, I decided to catch up with the times and now dedicate myself to Economics and Governance at Campus The Hague. When not writing papers or crunching data, you can find me swimming at the local association, cycling through the sand dunes, trying out new recipes, or planning the next trip, whether a long thematic journey or a weekend city break. But my favorite pastime is no doubt socializing at Leiden United, where friendships old and new constantly energize me with fresh perspectives. |
Linde Meijerink ASSESSOR EXTERNal The Assessor External is responsible for all contact with external parties and associations. I was born and raised in Utrecht and moved to Leiden when I started studying. Leiden felt immediately at home. It has the same canals, cozy cafés, and gezelligheid as Utrecht. In the past four years, I did two bachelor’s: primary school teaching and Child Studies and Education. I graduated both in July 2020. This year I will be a teacher by day and enjoy studentlife by night. I will work two days a week and spend the other five days having fun with you at Leiden United. I am really attracted by Leiden United because of the diversity of members and the safe environment Leiden United creates. I have been a member for three years now, in which I also have been a groupleader and joined the activities committee for one year. Leiden United is a perfect place to meet new friends, learn a lot about different cultures, and have awesome dinners together. I’m proud to be a board member of such a beautiful association. |
Lena Hering Secretary The Secretary focuses on documenting what happens during a board year and manages all the promotion. I was born in Germany and moved to the Netherlands with my family when I was 4 years old. We moved to Hoorn which is a typical small Dutch city next to the IJselmeer. So I had the opportunity for the true Dutch life experience. For my bachelor's psychology, I moved to Leiden. I finished my study this Summer and for now, I am figuring out what life has waiting for me. I will be busy working, doing an internship, and of course taking care of the promotion for Leiden United. In my free time, I will be dancing, playing the saxophone, and baking an apple pie or maybe a Schwarzwälderkirsch pie. Because I was raised with two different cultures, Leiden United felt immediately like a home and I hope it will for you too! |
